Our holiday officially started at midday when our flight from Auckland to Christchurch took off. We arrived in Christchurch at 1:30 and took a shuttle to Apolloi rentals to pick up our ‘house’. This time round we’ve gone big .. 6 sleeper. After all, Brent is tall so he needs lots of space 😉
Our first stop was at Countdown to stock up the fridge and the grocery cupboards. I obviously didn’t buy enough as we still have some empty cupboards!
After unpacking our shopping we made our way to Amberley. It’s a small little town that has a brand new shopping centre where we stopped and had dinner at Kafal Indian restaurant. The food was delicious – Eddie had the best ever goat curry, Brent went for the lamb Do pyaazi which was super tender and I had pepper paneer.
By the time we finished dinner it was 5:30pm it was already getting dark so we made our way to Waipara and checked into Waipara Sleepers for the night. Our host Dave was very entertaining and we spent the best part of an hour chatting to him and he gave us a tour of the grounds. It’s such a quaint place with train coaches that have been repurposed as cabins. The bathrooms were spotless! After parking up at our site we bunkered down for the as it was a crisp 4 degrees 🥶
