The weather turned overnight and we woke up to a cold wind and rain. We went for a drive through Clarence – it’s the first little place we’ve come across where there is a church but no pub. It literally consists of 4 houses and a church!

on our way to Blenheim we spotted some salt pans and a salt processing factory so we stopped to have a look at it. The factory is not open to the public but we could drive all along the salt pans – quite fascinating.

Just before Blenheim we took a detour at Sneddon to visit the Yealands vineyard. It’s a self drive tour through a 15km stretch of vineyards. It’s really quite spectacular. Sadly as with so many other places, the cellar doors were closed 😢

Once we got to Blenheim we stopped at a cafe for a cup of tea and then at the Chocolate factory to get our dairy fix 🤪🍫

We saw a nice camp site on the banks of the river so decided to check in to make sure we got a nice spot. After we had checked in we went to the Dobson Street Beer Garden where we did a taster paddle and had some tradition German food for dinner.
